Time to Ride

Earlier this year, SOS Outreach and Workplace Resource collaborated to present the Design the Modern Board contest, for which they asked local design and architecture firms and art-school students to come up with unique snowboard art. Working with the simple outline of a classic board, artists and designers were encouraged to submit original illustrations for a chance to be featured on a K2 board. At tonight’s big bash, the winner will be chosen by party attendees and announced on the spot.

The gathering will also serve as a fundraiser for SOS Outreach, a nationwide program that pairs at-risk kids with mentors who guide them in activities like skiing and snowboarding while sharing tools for success in everyday life. “They learn to ski and snowboard while having discussions about things like courage, then learn to take those lessons from the sport to their daily life,” says spokeswoman Caitlin Kincaid.

Come down to Workplace Resource, 1899 Wynkoop, from 6 to 9 p.m. to vote for your favorite board, enjoy music from DJ Eric Lind and enter to win some great door prizes. A suggested $10 donation will go to SOS Outreach’s outdoor programs, with food and drink provided by Wahoo’s, Left Hand Brewing and Marley Coffee. All ages are welcome; for more information, visit sosoutreach.org.
