Think you have what it takes to create a shred-ready masterpiece? Here's your chance: Design Within Reach, SOS Outreach and Never Summer have issued a call for entries for the 2011 Design the Modern Board competition.

The intent-to-submit deadline is March 17, and the submissions deadline is March 29 (details and board templates here). The board designs will be on display at the Design Within Reach Denver Studio, 2500 East 2nd Avenue, Thursday March 31, starting at 6 p.m., where the audience will vote to determine the Best in Show winner.

Grand prize? A snowboard, of course: Never Summer will manufacture a one-off board featuring the winning graphic. Hang it on the wall or go give it the proper thrashing it deserves (snowboard designers learn not to take it personally).

The fifth annual Design the Modern Board event ($12 at the door, suggested donation) will benefit SOS Outreach programs to expose youth to outdoor adventure on the slopes and in summer wilderness programs
