Nothing says Colorado better than an artful skateboard deck: The perfect union of our predilections for outdoor sport and DIY thinking speaks visual volumes about living on the edge, being casually modern and bursting with pride for the state's magnificent climate. The folks at the Colorado branch of the American Institute of Graphic Arts know that better than anyone, and that's why the organization throws its Bordo Bello Skateboard Project fundraiser annually, featuring nearly 200 well-designed decks for silent auction, all in a single gallery, with prices starting at $30 to $50. Proceeds go to various AIGA Colorado's mentorship programs. "This year, we're featuring more bigger national names, as well as more varied local participation," notes AIGA mentorship director Elysia Syriac of AIGA's third Bordo Bello event, which takes place tonight at Artwork Network, 878-1 Santa Fe Drive.

"We have local heroes, and we have national heroes showing together in the same space, something you'd never see anywhere else, since they're normally competitors." And when you're not busy bidding on the dozens of oh-so cool decks, there will be eats and entertainment by the Yellow Design BMX Stunt Team, as well as the YesPleaseMore Social Media Photo Booth, which allows your photo to be posted on the Bordo Bello Twitter feed and Facebook page, where you can later go back and tag yourself.

Your kind of fun? The auction begins at 6 p.m.; admission is $15 in advance and $20 at the door. A sneak peek follows.
