tRUNk Show

The superheroes at Buntport Theater have been fighting crime in their home town of Dendiggityopolis for four and a half seasons now as part of an unusual theatrical series called tRUNks: A Live Comic Book. New episodes show every other Saturday with ideas based on suggestions from the previous episode’s audience.

Today’s performance is based on the novel Johnny Tremain — but what the superheroes will do remains to be seen. "They're limited only by their own imaginations," notes Buntport's Erin Rollman. "Generally speaking, something about the plot with these comic-book characters mirrors what happens in the book.” Over the years, they've covered everything from Where the Wild Things Are to Harry Potter.

And it truly is fun for all ages: "There's a lot of physical comedy for little kids," notes Rollman, "but the parents laugh just as much, if not more, at a lot of the jokes. There are even adults who come to the show without kids."

Tickets are $5, $6 or $7, depending on your luck at the door — but if you come dressed as a superhero or supervillain, you'll receive $1 off the admission price. Buntport is at 717 Lipan Street, and shows are at 1 and 3 p.m. Call 720-946-1388 or visit www.buntport.com/trunks for an episode and character guide.
Every other Saturday, 1 & 3 p.m. Starts: Oct. 24. Continues through Jan. 24, 2009
