As soon as all the fever over zombies and the presidential election dies down, much of the populace will most likely shift its wide-eyed gaze toward the Mayans’ December 2012 end-of-the-world prophecy. RedLine Gallery has decided to mix all three themes together in a multifaceted fundraiser/costume party titled The Democalypse: An a-Political Bacchanal.

“We thought it would be irresponsible not to riff off the election season,” says organizer Louise Martorano. “Since Colorado is a battleground state, we wanted to provide a humorous reprieve from politics. People can come as zombies or as presidential zombies. We want people to resurrect the political past.”

Aside from the numerous exhibitions by RedLine artists, the event will also include flash-mob swing dancing; comedy performances by members of the Fine Gentleman’s Club (dressed as U.S. presidents of yesteryear); improv from the Black Actors Guild; a presidential cocktail-history speakeasy from Green Russell; and an interactive art piece designed to unearth and overcome participants’ bipartisan leanings.

RedLine Gallery is located at 2350 Arapahoe Street; tickets to the Democalypse, which begins at 7 p.m., range from $15 to $150. For more information, visit redlineart.org or call 303-296-4448
