Up in Smoke

Those who attended the initial Vaporize psychedelic music-and-art extravaganza two years ago have been asking Liz E11even, one of the event's organizers, when the Sculpted Sound crew planned to throw the next one. "It was a mind-blowing experience for them," she says, "which is what we hear about a lot of our shows." Part of the reason for that is the emphasis Sculpted Sound places on the show's visual element. "We really focus heavily on art at our events," says E11even. "The art lineup is as big as the music lineup. It's a really interactive environment; we try to take you out of this world."

Appropriately, show will feature two stages -- Astral and Terra -- with music by Mubali, Kaminanda, E11even herself, Paradigm and many more. NephilNine from New York City will guide everyone farther down the rabbit hole with improbably lovely visuals; Martina Hoffman, Jesse Noemind and many more will join in with the visionscape. Aerial silk and fire performances will round out the evening's entertainment. The composite parts of the event add up to a greater whole than their sum, interweaving and connecting each element in a cosmic pattern that has to be experienced to be understood.

Get Vaporized tonight, starting at 9 p.m. Admission to the eighteen-and-up show is $20 in advance and $25 at the door; the venue will be announced the day of the event. Visit www.sculptedsound.net.
