A Denver theater production that emulates a national TV talk show and is hosted by a Scottish comedian? We’re in. Winnie Wenglewick, the longtime writer, producer and director at Denver's Dangerous Theatre, is launching the talk show I Want to Be Craig Ferguson, deriving the format and title from the host of CBS’s Late Late Show. “To be totally honest, it’s his accent,” she says. “I’m a sucker for his accent, and I think he is very intelligent. He has a nice butt, too.”

While the format may be similar to the televised talk show’s, Wenglewick says her production isn’t a complete mirror of the Late Late Show. “Craig Ferguson opens his show with ‘It’s a great day for America.’ I open mine with ‘As Americans, we’re fucked.’ I may be a little more pessimistic than he is. And the one thing I can do that a TV talk show can’t is offer an intermission with desserts.”

I Want to Be Craig Ferguson begins tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Dangerous Theatre, 2620 West Second Avenue, and continues every third Thursday at the same time; tickets are $5. For more information, visit dangeroustheatre.com.
Third Thursday of every month, 7:30 p.m. Starts: Oct. 17. Continues through Dec. 18, 2013
