The Simpsons has been a cultural staple for more than two decades, which is a big reason why Yellow Fever: The 2nd Annual All-Simpsons Pub Quiz is returning for an encore presentation at 6 p.m. tonight at the Gothic Theatre, 3263 South Broadway in Englewood. “The Simpsons is the last show everyone in the office can agree on,” explains John Dicker, quizmaster-in-chief of Geeks Who Drink. “It spans generations.”

The basic setup is eight rounds of trivia — including one audio and one visual question — that ask about everything from the writers to the voice actors to the catchphrases to the holiday episodes and the musical numbers. “Last year we expected about twenty teams to show up, and we ended up with 52,” says Dicker. “It was such a big hit, we decided to do it again and move it to a bigger location.”

Admission is $5, and the prize for the winning team should be between $250 and $500, depending on the turnout. “The team that won last year — Discovery Channel (C) — will be there defending its title,” says Dicker. “I guess when you hit people’s niche interest area, they want to prove how smart they are.”
