"The world watched it unfold on television, but what Convention captures is what was slightly out-of-frame or off-stage," says Britta Erickson, Denver Film Society festival director and a co-producer of Convention. "We set out to capture how Denver would deal with hosting this major event. What ends up resonating the most for me about the film, besides the fact that watching it makes me incredibly proud to be a Denver native, is seeing that when people come together and work as a team, incredible feats can be pulled off like hosting a majorly important convention, making a film or even being elected president."
Convention, presented by the DFS, screens tonight at 5:15 and 7:30 p.m. and will run nightly through Thursday, June 17, at Starz FilmCenter, in the Tivoli building on the Auraria campus. Seats are $8, $7 for DFS members. For tickets and info, call 303-595-3456 or visit www.denverfilm.org.
