Between the junk, the treasures disguised as junk and the priceless people-watching, there's nothing like a good flea market. When Motyka Johnson, a coordinator at the Aurora History Museum, decided to organize First Saturdays Summer Flea Markets, she was hoping to do something unlike the run-of-the-mill festivals and farmers' markets. "I wanted this to be something unique that would help build a community spirit," she says. "So the idea harks back to the old-fashioned community market, where you didn't necessarily have to own a business or be an LLC or incorporated person to be able to go out and take part in a community event on either side of the counter."

Today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Delaney Farm, 170 South Chambers Road, more than twenty vendors will provide entertainment and sell food, art, crafts, antiques — even balloons. Admission is free; for information, or to reserve a space for the August 4 market, call Johnson at 303-739-6662 or visit www.auroragov.org. Registration fees support museum programs.
First Saturday of every month, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Starts: June 2. Continues through Aug. 4
