Sometimes luck and trouble go hand in hand; other times it takes a bit of both to balance things out. While the folks in Tequila Mockingbird had a few troubles and struggles during the two years it took to make their third, fittingly titled disc, it might have been a little more than luck that caused the album to turn out so well. The five-piece, fronted by singer Wendy Clark, mixes it up throughout the record, from the driving opener "Blue" and the alt-country of the title track to the bouncy ska of "La Carta" and a few straightforward rockers like the chugging "Actual Size." Since the band's lineup hasn't changed in eight years, it's damn impressive that its members are still getting into trouble together.
