Last year was a good year for the Knew. In addition to garnering a slot at last fall's Monolith, the players also jetted to New York, where they performed at CMJ. And now, with an impending trip to Austin for this year's South by Southwest festival and the release of its first full-length, Pulpería, 2010 is shaping up rather nicely for the band, as well. The album is a one-stop shop, serving up heaping portions of Modest Mouse-style indie rock infused with the style and swagger possessed by some of the most celebrated '70s-era arena rockers. With groove-heavy bass lines, lightly distorted guitars and Jacob Hansen's dominating falsetto, the Knew offers a sound in the Mock Orange realm, only with far more funk.
