Early in her career, during four years of solid touring, Coles Whalen sold thousands of CDs out of her truck — and since issuing her self-titled debut EP in 2005, she's released five recordings and toured almost constantly. After wrapping a tour last December, Whalen was completely (and understandably) worn out, and wasn't sure if she'd even make another record. But after the president of XMG, a new label based out of Colorado Springs, reached out, she started work on Come Back, Come Back. A solid record throughout, it's the first disc she's self-produced and marks the first time she's had her live band in the studio. Whalen hangs on to her country roots here ("Catch Hold" and "Go Back"), but she also shows a knack for crafting catchy rock cuts ("Cruel Game").
