BONOBO @ OGDEN THEATRE | FRI, 4/26/13 Simon Green's Bonobo project has taken chilled-out downtempo on a meandering journey through complex syncopation, sweeping strings and heavy bass lines since 1999, when he released the single "Terrapin" on the Tru Thoughts label. Since then, Green has created four full-length albums for both Tru Thoughts and the epic Ninja Tune. His use of exotic instruments such as the sitar blended with soulful, funky horns and gentle cymbals creates a soundscape reminiscent of a laid-back DJ Shadow.

After finding acceptance on the DJ circuits in Ibiza and Europe, Bonobo took a few years off from production before releasing this year's excellent Black Sands, a work that proves he hasn't lost any of his sonic edge in the interim. Bonobo's albums are sweet, hypnotic and often melancholy; his live work kicks the energy up a notch while maintaining his signature blissed-out downtempo feel. (8 p.m., 16+, $25)

DIESELBOY @ BETA | FRI, 4/26/13 Whether he's producing the fastest, tightest, most insistent drum-and-bass tracks you've ever heard or dropping a set that's pure whomp-based dubstep, it's clear that Damian Higgins selected an appropriate moniker when he started making music as Dieselboy. His sound is immediately identifiable -- slick, dark and powerful, with an underlying rumble and mechanical precision that evoke an engine boasting more horsepower than a NASA shuttle. His high-school musical meanderings included playing drums in the marching band and deejaying for dances at his alma mater in Oil City, Pennsylvania. Once he got beat-matching and mixing down, production was the next obvious step, and by the mid-'90s, Dieselboy was one of the most respected bass-oriented mixmasters and producers in the game. Catch the master at work with Fury and M.C. Dohza; in the Beatport Lounge, Greg Eversoul and ManmadE heat up the underground techno so you can get down. (9 p.m., 18+. $10)

NICOLAS JARR @ COMMUNIKEY/BOULDER MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART | SAT, 4/27/13 Only 23 years old, New York's Nicolas Jaar is turning heads in the electronic-music world with his cerebral take on left-field house and experimental techno that makes frequent use of live instrumentation often performed by Jaar himself. A 2012 graduate of Brown University, Jaar released his debut album, the atmospheric Space Is Only Noise, to widespread critical acclaim in 2011, and he was recognized by Resident Advisor as the number-one live electronic-music act of both 2011 and 2012. CMKY is taking over Boulder all weekend long; catch dozens more musical masterpieces this weekend, locals and out-of-towners alike, along with film and workshops and all kinds of cool events. (1 p.m., all ages, $20) -- Matt Miner

FRIDAY, APRIL 26

Justin Long is this month's special guest at the Electric Pony residency -- he'll be playing soulful, groovy nu-disco alongside the regular Pony residents at the Appaloosa Grill. (9 p.m., 21+, donation before midnight, $10 after)

Markus Schulz joins the M Machine and KhoMa to create some decadent dance music, and what better place to create such a thing than the Church? (9 p.m., 18+, $20)

SATURDAY, APRIL 27

Tanner Ross heats up the speakers at NORAD tonight with a little help from Willis Haltom, Dino G and Myquill -- your inner dance fiend will thank you for going. (9 p.m., 21+, $15-$20)

It's a birthday party at the Blend this round; on deck are Sami T, Colin Chmielewski, Michael Scot and Ray Paz, so stop by to celebrate life at the Meadowlark. (9 p.m., 21+, $5)

Catch Sultan and Ned Shepard at Beta with Dragon, Jaceo and Vedic Dublin priming those speakers at Beta for the dancefloor captivators. (9 p.m., 18+, $10)
