Update (2/7/12): Isaac Slade and Joe King give a track-by-track breakdown of Scars & Stories, the Fray's new album.

The Fray's new Brendan O'Brien-produced album, which frontman Isaac Slade spoke with us about at length this past spring, now officially has a title (Scars & Stories) and a release date (February 7). The first single from the album, recorded along with the rest of the record at Blackbird Studio in Nashville, "Heartbeat," began garnering airplay yesterday locally and across the country. From what we've heard of Scars, the group's third album, it's notably more upbeat and guitar-driven than the band's past work. Page down to hear the new song.

"The choruses feel like choruses," Slade revealed of the new album when we last spoke with him. "Sometimes the choruses are just, like, higher verses [laughs]. I think we figured out a few choruses on this one."
