Starting off Saturday is the Girls Rock Denver 2011 Camper Showcase at the Oriental Theater, an afternoon of brand new bands making their first appearances on stage. The show will be a culmination of band practices and coaching, as the young women's newly formed bands will be playing material created during the week-long intensive camp. In the evening, The Foggy Mountain Fuckers make a rare appearance, with a night of its legendary no bullshit honky tonk music at Three Kings. The rowdy dudes bring along fellow locals All Capitals, The Land Grabbers and The Bonnie Situation. (21 and up, 8 p.m. doors, $6-8.)
Sunday, the now-famous Larimer Lounge BBQ series continues with Drag The River headlining a showcase of local Americana and rock acts. Kick back with a beer and enjoy Elliott Moonshine & The Ghost, Whiskey Tango, Woodrose, Casey James Prestwood & The Burning Angels, Lizzie Huffman, Arliss Nancy and Bonnie And The Beard for just $10 if you grab tickets in advance. Rounding out the weekend of local madness, dance punks The Photo Atlas play the Hi-Dive with A Common Anomaly and The Noise FM. Kicking around since the early '00s, the wirey, beat-heavy band has seen a few line-up changes (drummers, mostly), but its sound and energy have stay on point.(18 and up, 8 p.m. doors, $7-10.)
