When we last caught up with the folks at ZetaKaye, they were in the process of gathering songs for a compilation album they were putting together. This week the free comp has arrived, and it's filled to the brim with 22 tracks from local musicians. It's being offered for download on a pay-what-you-want basis, with all proceeds going directly back to the artists.
The compilation's 22 artists range only slightly in tone, but all clearly hold true to an indie-rock aesthetic prominent in these parts. A few notable highlights include tracks from Tommy Metz, Safe Boating Is No Accident, Il Cattivo, Royal Talons and plenty more.
The initial submission process started just a few short months ago, but over the course of that time, ZetaKaye House received more than 300 submissions from 70 different bands. Somehow, after digging through all of that, they've picked the first 22 bands. But this is just the first of a planned series, and they're not holding back on getting the second volume out the door just as quickly.
Between now and June 30, Denver artists can submit tracks for consideration for This Ain't No Cowtown Vol. 2, by emailing ZetaKaye House. The second release is planned for August and should follow relatively the same format as the first. To celebrate the release of the forthcoming physical disc, ZetaKaye's taking over Lost Lakes for the month of June. Full lineup below.
