Just got word that Elitt Beat, a new house-music act incorporating live instrumentation, is debuting its act at the  Funky Buddha. The brainchild of Casablanca-born DJ Elitt (aka Simo Fellah, pictured), Elitt Beat incorporates violin, percussion and saxophone into its international house stylings. Joining DJ Elitt tonight will be David Lyon on violin and percussionist Moe El Enjira on djembe. In my experience, adding live players to house is kind of a gamble. Sometimes it works great (Miguel Migs, Matthew Dear) sometimes not so much (lots of dudes you never heard of, because it didn't work out so great). Still, it's definitely worth checking out.
