Tickets for one of the newest, but already most buzz-worthy Colorado beer festivals of the year go on sale tomorrow at noon.
The second annual Boulder SourFest -- with more than eighty different sour ales -- will run from noon to 5 p.m. on June 11 at Avery Brewing Company in Boulder.
The inaugural event in 2010 sold out quickly. Tickets for this year's Sourfest will be capped at 450 "to ensure that the beers last and lines do not exist."
Sours are already shaping up to be one of the big beer stories of 2011, as brewers large and small dedicate the resources and expertise necessary to make these unusual, Belgian-style beers. Brewed with "wild yeasts," sour beers take on funky odors and flavors that can be off-putting to the uninitiated -- and addictive to those who have bought in.
Tickets are $45, up from $35 last year; buy them at www.averybrewing.com or www.ticketalternative.com. Proceeds will benefit the Colorado Brewers Guild.
