Zeppelin Developments, which developed the nearby Taxi complex, is working hard right now to transform an 1880s ironworks building at 3530 Brighton Boulevard into The Source, a curated European-style artisan food market and retail space in the hot-hot River North (RiNo) district. Although Visit Denver is already touting the Source as one of the hot tickets for the summer, the project is about a month away from actually opening. Zeppelin has targeted mid-July as an opening date for the Source, when several of the specialty shops under those sixty-foot peaked ceilings will be ready; the rest will roll out through the summer.

When the Source is fully sourced, those businesses will include Acorn, the first offshoot of Oak at Fourteenth, the Boulder restaurant Gretchen Kurtz reviews this week. (Acorn is looking at a late-August opening). Also on tap are the Proper Pour, a liquor store and bartender's supply depot; Mondo Food, a gourmet cheese and spice shop; Babettes, a French bakery by Boulder's Steve Scott; Crooked Stave, a craft brewery and tap room; a tasting room from Hotchkiss-based craft distillery CapRock; a roastery and coffee shop from Boxcar Coffee Roasters; and Comida, a branch of the Longmont-based operation specializing in Mexican street food.
