Reporters are renowned for how much they can drink. But not coffee, apparently.

Yesterday, Starbucks Corp. posted the list of 600 stores it will close by early next year: nine of those in Colorado, three of those in Denver, and exactly one of those in the Denver Newspaper Agency building, at 101 West Colfax Avenue, where Starbucks has not been feeling a whole latte love.

The other doomed Denver addresses are at 320 South Colorado Boulevard and 1750 16th Street. Losing those hardly puts a dent in the Starbucks empire, but at least LoDo has many worthy local alternatives, including Common Grounds at 17th and Wazee Street (which also serves liquor!) and the LoDo Tattered Cover, which now starts pouring at 6:30 a.m. -- Patricia Calhoun
