Slurp this: On Sunday, March 15, Jax Fish House in Boulder hosted its eleventh annual oyster-eating contest.

Today the fun moves to Denver, where Jax Fish House at 1539 17th Street is kicking off its own oyster week, with a $35 prix fixe menu by chef Sheila Lucero, eleven oysters for $11, and other food and drink specials (including Mumm's sparkling wine for $8 a glass). It all culminates in another oyster-eating contest at 2 p.m. March 22.

And Jax will shell out every time you do: For each oyster eaten at the Denver Jax during oyster week, eleven cents will be donated to the Gathering Place. For all the delicious details, go to www.oysterweeks.com.
