Yesterday, the Top 100 Chinese Restaurants awards were announced in Las Vegas, and three Colorado restaurants -- Empress Dim Sum Seafood Restaurant, Ho's Imperial of Superior and, despite the name, Sengataki Japanese Grill of Wheat Ridge -- made the list for overall excellence.

Seven Denver restaurants ranked in the "Local Favorites" category, including the Mongolian Grill Chinese Restaurant in Durango and Saigon Landing in Evergreen (a second Saigon Landing opened in November in Greenwood Village).

The process used to determine the local favorites in this sixth annual contest seems somewhat vague; the winners were required to have "an important community presence and have a significant and devoted customer base."

Not to dispute the validity of the awards -- and congratulations to all the Colorado winners -- but some excellent Chinese restaurants didn't make the cut this year. China Jade, for example, which was a nominee.

What Denver area restaurants should have made the list? Post your suggestions below.
