Yesterday Lori Midson reported that Frank and Jacqueline Bonanno, who already run Mizuna, Bones and Luca D'Italia at the corner of Seventh Avenue and Grant Street, will be taking over the space previously occupied by the Lancer Lounge, and turning it into Vesper Lounge, a bar that "won't break the bank," they promise.

The Lancer, a classic dive, closed two weeks ago, simultaneously evicted by the landlord and seized by the state for failure to pay taxes.Though the bar may have been short of cash, it was long on fans. Says Joey:

I'm just wondering what *won't break the bank* really means, considering it sits on this block and will now be run by Bonanno.

I liked being able to go to the Lancer and get a cheap drink while i was waiting for a table at Bones. I'll wait to pass judgement, but Lancer Lounge was super nice on the wallet.

Others aren't waiting to pass judgment, though. Read many more comments on the Bonannos's plans for Vesper Lounge here.
