Zuned Khan has been in the restaurant business for years, but when his most recent venture, Boulder's Maharaja, shuttered, back in 2008, he decided to take a break. "I got out of the business," he explains. "But then I got laid off from my other job, so I decided to come back and open a fast-food kind of place. This is what I always wanted to do."
About a month ago, he unlocked the doors to Curry n Kebob near 28th and Valmont in Boulder, revealing an Indian restaurant, he says, that's "in between fast-food and a casual restaurant." Items are cooked to order, but they're delivered quickly -- within 15 minutes, promises the website -- and, for the most part, everything on the menu is priced below $10.
Curry n Kebob is focused on northern Indian and Bengali food, and, true to the name, Khan says the specialties are curries and kebobs, as well as the chicken tikka masala. "It's like normal Indian restaurants," he adds. The rest of the list spans such familiarities as dal, saag paneer, samosas, vindaloo and chana masala.
The spot is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.
