Bet you didn't know that Empire Lounge & Restaurant's executive chef Jim Cohen was named one of the eleven best chefs in American in 1983 -- by none other than foodie queen Julia Child. Cohen worked alongside Child filming Dinner at Julia's for one week in California, and this summer, he's paying tribute to the culinary superstar by taking Child's traditional recipes and interpreting them, Empire-style, at a multi-course meal. At each dinner, the restaurant will give away a copy of the kitchen bible Mastering the Art of French Cooking, and all guests will be entered into a running to win a set of copper pots and pans at the end of the series.
Here's what to expect:
Cohen's taken Child's recipes for moules a la marinere, homard a' la americaine, salad nicoise and clafouti aux pommes and used them to create his own menu: wood-roasted mussels with marcona almonds and shoestring potatoes; chive risotto with grilled lobster and sauce americaine; tuna, white bean and frisse bacon salad with poached farm egg; and a double raspberry tart.
