UPDATE: The winners are announced here.
Some food trucks might be falling off the curb -- the Little Orange Rocket, Walnut A-Go-Go, Crazy Good and Fiddle My Griddle have all slammed on the brakes -- but by our last count, there were more than eighty Denver-area food trucks still on the streets. A dozen of those trucks, including Street Eats, NZ Smoking Guns, Max Lunch, Brava Pizzeria, Steuben's and Mythos Greek, will congregate at 2300 Walnut Street, in a behemoth Ballpark District parking lot, this Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m. for the sequel to the first Food Truck Renegades bash, which hit the pavement in late May -- and we're holding a contest that will grant two Cafe Society readers the privilege to eat and drink for free.
But according to Rich Wong, who operates Street Eats -- and formed the Food Truck Renegades (with a little help from his street-food-slinging cohorts) -- there's much more on tap than just truck food and brews. "We've got a ton of activities this time around, including pickle ball, lot jarts and hippity-hop soccer, as well as music from local DJs Ginger Perry and Christine West," says Wong, who adds that there will other surprises as well.
"We're holding the sequel party in a mammoth lot that's one full city block long, so it's definitely the biggest space so far for any food truck function, but we also listened to the people who were at the last Food Truck Renegades event, and they were loud and clear about the fact that the lines were too long, so we've added a bunch of really cool activities to break up the time," explains Wong.
And while the beer ran dry at the last Food Truck Renegades bash, Wong promises that it won't happen again on Saturday. "We'll have plenty of beer from Left Hand Brewery, as well as wine," says Wong, "and, no, we won't run out of either," all the more reason to get your creative juices flowing for our contest.
