We can't count the number of times we've made a late-afternoon dash over to Masterpiece Delicatessen, the spot that was our Best Sandwich Shop in this year's Best of Denver, only to remember too late that Masterpiece closes at 4 p.m.
Fortunately, that's about to change. Beginning May 1, Masterpiece will extend its hours, and we'll be able to chow down on the shop's kick-ass egg salad, beef brisket and breakfast sandwiches until 8 p.m., seven days a week.
"When we opened four years ago, there was nothing else here," Justin Brunson, who owns Masterpiece along with Steve Allee, says of the location on the edge of Highland. "But now there are a lot of restaurants, so it makes sense to be open beyond lunch."
It also makes sense because Masterpiece has landed its liquor license. The patio -- with its great view of downtown -- is already packed during the lunch hour; now people will be able to enjoy after-work libations in that space, as well as casual dinners.
And Masterpiece is offering another lure to try out those new hours: If you stop and shop there before May 1, you'll receive a coupon for an adult beverage that can be redeemed between 4 until 8 p.m....starting May 1. Drink up!
