On Sunday, September 7, 2014, Westword will host its twentieth annual celebration of the Denver dining scene, DISH, in Sculpture Park at the Denver Performing Arts Complex, where many of the favorite restaurants of Cafe Society writers and readers will be serving delectable dishes. Like Glazed and Confuzed, for example. Co-owners Benjamin Hafdahl and Josh Schwab are bringing soul with a hole to the food festival, packing one of the freshly-opened shop's gourmet creations.

Hafdahl and Schwab started out peddling their hand-made doughnuts wherever they could in Denver, until they finally opened up a brick-and-mortar-and-icing store in Glendale this summer. The shop prides itself on making sinful treats with wholesome ingredients -- think mojito doughnut with fresh lime and mint or a root beer float version stuffed with vanilla custard. "Not your daddy's doughnuts," goes the Glazed and Confuzed slogan.

For DISH, one of the outfit's signature confections gets the spotlight: the Confuzed Samoa, a yeast-raised doughnut inspired by the classic Girl Scout cookie. One of G&C's more laid-back creations, this doughnut still comes topped with homemade caramel glaze, a chocolate drizzle and a ton of toasted coconut.

It's unlikely that Glazed and Confuzed will show up on your porch in a green uniform, but you'll find them and dozens more restaurants at DISH, which runs from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 7. (VIP entrance is at 11 a.m.) To see what else is in store and buy tickets for this culinary celebration's twentieth anniversary, visit the 2014 DISH site.
