This week Gretchen Kurtz explored Cuban cuisine in her review of the Cuba Cuba Sandwicheria in CitySet, which could be the future of fast-casual Cuban in this country. That restaurant debuted right around the time that Steve Scott opened Babettes, his bakery in the Source; Lori Midson talks with Scott for the current Chef and Tell. And Mark Antonation's trip up Federal Boulevard brought him to Federal Bar and Grill, where he had a far-from-liquid brunch -- through no fault of the Federal.

Also this week, we learned that Pete's Patio Bar will be closing after the Super Bowl; the location has been purchased by the team behind Jonesey's. And speaking of the Super Bowl, Michael Hancock took time out from his busy mayoral duties welcoming the new Ruth's Chris Steak House to make a bet with Seattle's mayor, promising to send green chile from some of Denver's most iconic Mexican restaurants if the Broncos lose.

The opening of Ruth's Chris was notable, but so were some of this week's closings. Boulder has chased off another chain, for example: After twenty years, Pearl Street proved the pits for the Olive Garden.

CLOSING THIS WEEK: Furr's Jai Ho Lime XS (for renovations) Olive Garden
