The amount of creativity that we get to throw into this - it's an out-of-the-norm element for us to create a themed beer and get the fans involved like this," says Breckenridge spokesman Matt Eldridge. "Comic Con, gaming and movie fans -- they all get really into this. And in turn, we get bring more of them into craft beer."
A hoppy amber ale, Brews Wayne has contradictory yet complimentary flavors, similar to the super hero himself, the brewery says. It has "an herbal and floral punch of aroma with woody undertones. With a hearty malt base and lively hop character, Brews Wayne is the perfect beer for the playboy by day and superhero by night."
The name was selected from more than 1,300 submissions. The top seven or eight were then voted on by fans. Colorado-based author, artist, and video game developer, Josh Viola, and comic book artist and illustrator, Aaron Lovett, created the artwork.
Tonight's party begins at 8 p.m. and features live music from Total Ghost, Sundown Social, and DJ Ginger Perry. The first two hundreds fans to arrive will receive a limited-edition pint glass with the artwork. The artists will also be on hand.
Brews Wayne will be served next month at the three-day Denver Comic Con as well as in several tap rooms in Denver.
Last year's beer was called the Caped Brewsader. The 2012 version was the Fantastic Pour.
