TUESDAY, OCTOBER 8 Epic Collaboration Dinner Firestone Walker Brewing Company is hooking up with local Leopold Brothers Distillery at Euclid Hall. The pre-Great American Beer Festival event will begin at 7 p.m. and features beers and spirits paired with an eight-course meal prepared by Euclid Hall. Representatives from each company will be present to talk about their products. Tickets are $100; make reservations and preview the menu on the Euclid Hall website.
Mateo will host "Provence to Lyons," a seven-course meal paired with wine and cocktails, all prepared by Boulder chefs, food providers and restaurateurs: Kelly Whitaker (Basta), Ann Cooper (Boulder Valley School District), Will and Coral Frischkorn (Cured), Bryan Dayton (Oak at Fourteenth and Acorn) and Mateo chef Nate Bychinski. Garlic Is As Good As Ten Mothers This free screening at the Boulder Public Library will kick off off the inaugural edition of Chow Down: IFS Food Film Festival, which runs through October 13 and will show various films tapping into the foodie culture, as well as offer other events around Boulder. Raise the Roof Honor the work of Habitat for Humanity and the Carter Work Project with President Jimmy and and Rosalind Carter, along with special guests Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood. The event runs from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the National Western Complex, and includes a formal dinner followed by remarks from President Carter, prominent Habitat representatives and local elected officials. The night will conclude with an intimate performance by Isaac Slade of The Fray. THURSDAY OCTOBER 10 One Flew Over the Barleywine Fest Embark on an unlimited tasting adventure at Renegade Publik House from 6 to 9 p.m., when it will feature twelve Barleywines, a very strong and intense beer. The event includes a full-size souvenir glass and various hors d'oeuvres from the Renegade kitchen. Tickets are $30; purchase them at imbibedenver.com.
FRIDAY OCTOBER 11 Barrel-Aged Bike Ride Join Avery Brewing Company on the second day of the Great American Beer Festival for a day of bike touring and beer tasting! Cycle on over to Falling Rock Tap House, where the tasting begins, at 11 a.m. The bike tour will then stop by Lucky Pie Pizza & Tap House, Euclid Hall, Highland Tap and Burger and finish up at Star Bar around 5 p.m. At each stop, riders will receive a four-ounce pour of a rare, Avery barrel-aged beer, a six-ounce pour of palate- cleansing beer and a playing card. The riders with the three best poker hands at the end of the day win prizes. Tickets are $45 and can be purchased online -- and bicycles are required.
