So Bristol put down the accounting books and picked up bags of grain and hops on December 24, 2010, and got into the brewhouse himself to help make it. The results have the same malt bill as Bristol's signature Laughing Lab, but with a Belgian yeast strain and Belgian candy sugar. B6000, as it is called, was released yesterday in 750 ml bottles that have been hand corked, caged and labeled. The 8 percent ABV beer should be available in liquor stores soon.
Wednesday, August 3The Yak & Yeti, 7803 Ralston Road in Arvada, releases the latest in its series of Wednesday wheats, Blueberry Wheat, today at 4 p.m. The Yak shocked the world during last year's Great American Beer Festival when it won the gold for its Himalayan IPA in the highly competitive American-style strong pale ale category.

Longtime local journalist Ed Sealover, who currently writes for the Denver Business Journal, will release Mountain Brew: A Guide to Colorado's Breweries today with a book-signing and Q&A tonight at 6 p.m. at the Denver Press Club, 1330 Glenarm Place. The 224-page book profiles the state's breweries, from the biggest to the smallest.
So, I think I understand the point of International #IPA Day (are you raising a pint or a protest?), which takes place today across the country at various beer bars and breweries. It was created by celebrated beer blogger Ashley V. Routson -- known as the Beer Wench -- and Ryan A. Ross of San Diego's Karl Strauss Brewing as a way to spread the joy via social media. And I'm not complaining since #IPAday provides yet another excuse to drink the finest beverage known to humankind. Here are some place where you can celebrate with fellow hopheads.
*Great Divide Brewing, 2201 Arapaho Street, which is one of the official sponsors of #IPAday will celebrate by offering a special taster flight and with a keg of a new beer (an IPA, I assume) on tap. The tap room is open from 2 to 10 p.m.
Other places to celebrate #IPAday include:
*Star Bar, 2137 Larimer Street, will offer unlimited samples of twenty different IPAs starting at 6 p.m. for $20. Beers include those from Oskar Blues, Odell, Firestone Walker, Avery, Ska, Green Flash and Dogfish Head.
*Freshcraft, 1530 Blake Street, will have $5 IPA flights (which include four 4.5-ounce glasses) of Stone IPA, Bristol Compass IPA (Nitro), Great Divide Rumble Oak Aged IPA and Avery Maharaja.
*Odell Brewing, 800 East Lincoln Avenue in Fort Collins, which will tap a special firkin of Myrcenary Double IPA. Guests get a free IPA poster with the purchase of Myrcenary (or another IPA) growler fill (while supplies last). The strEats Mobile Bistro will be on site.

The Bull & Bush, 4700 Cherry Creek Drive South, celebrates part one of its fortieth anniversary this weekend, kicking off the two-day fest tonight with live music from the Legendary 4-Nikators and a tapping of of the brewpub's 40th Anniversary Wheat Wine. Of course, the brewery has been celebrating for a while now, tapping a new beer every day for forty days.
Dry Dock Brewery has a special treat today for its weekly Firkin Friday event, a cask of Sour Cherry Belgian Blonde. The tap room opens at 3 p.m.
The Wazee Supper Club, 1600 15th Street, is celebrating its 37th birthday all this week with various events and activities, and tonight, that includes a '70s themed evening and FREE BEER! The pizza joint, which is owned by the Wynkoop restaurant group, will tap a keg of Rail Yard Ale at 5 p.m. and give it away until it's gone.

The Bull & Bush wraps up its two-day birthday party today by tapping some Avery beers and with live music from the Samples beginning at 9 p.m. Tickets, which cost $19.71, are available at the Bull & Bush -- and they're going fast.

The rapidly expanding Avery Brewing will celebrate its eighteenth birthday -- and possibly its last at its original location at 5757 Arapahoe Avenue in Boulder -- today with a giant bash featuring numerous beers, all-you-can-eat BBQ and live music. Tickets for the party, which runs from noon to 5 p.m., are $25 in advance or $30 at the door, but it will likely sell out before that. VIP tickets are $40.

Euclid Hall Bar & Kitchen plans to celebrate its first birthday in epic style tonight at 7 p.m. by serving up some of its sought-after meaty menu items, offering butchering- and sausage-making demos, and pouring specialty spirits (including Leopold Bros) and beers (from Great Divide and Boulevard); there will also be music from DJ Vajra beginning at 8 p.m. Need more? Okay, there will also be goldfish races, math quizzes and other frivolity. Tickets, available at the restaurant, are $45 per person and include food stations, two specialty beers, house wines or well cocktails per person and all the festivities.

Freshcraft, 1530 Blake Street, will turn over nearly half of its taps to Boulevard Brewing of Kansas City, which will be pouring eight beers, including Single Wide IPA, Zôn, Tank 7, Dry Stout on nitro, Harvest Dance Wheat Wine and its version of Collaboration No. 2 White I.P.A, which is did with Oregon's Deschutes Brewing.

Denver Beer Co makes its long-awaited debut at 1695 Platte Street today at noon, and owners Charlie Berger and Patrick Crawford will offer the first toast to everyone who turns out and stays late. "By the end of the night we promise your ears will ring from the clinking of pints and joyful shouts of PROST!" they say. On tap: Platte Pils, Graham Cracker Porter, Kaffir Wheat, Gear Up IPA, Rye Twenty Five, Confluence Pale Ale, and Summer Stout. Denver Beer Co will also be serving giant German-style pretzels, and there will be also be food trucks on hand. Beer drinking will start around noon, although it officially begins with a ribbon-cutting at 7 p.m.
