At a loss for where to bulk up before the Broncos? Business Week has you covered. In its write-up of restaurants located near this country's football stadiums, the magazine suggests you head to Bistro Vendome, 1420 Larimer Street, for a Tall Napoleon cocktail and a croque madame or plate of French toast.
We're fans of Bistro Vendome, too, but we have no clue why Business Week chose a French restaurant for a pre-Broncos game feast, other than the fact that it happens to be located two miles from Invesco Field.
We might instead head around the corner to Euclid Hall Bar & Kitchen, 1317 14th Street, which, like Bistro Vendome, is owned by Beth Gruitch and Jennifer Jasinski -- but actually serves food and drinks that resemble something that you'd consume at a sporting event. But better: hand-cranked sausages that we'd happily substitute for nasty hot dogs, and a dozen draught lines, not one of which is devoted to Coors Light.
Other picks for a pre-Broncos feast within two miles of the stadium? The bar snacks at Lola, 1575 Boulder Street, make a happy substitution for the fake cheese nachos you'd otherwise consume, and Basic Kneads is also hauling its mobile pizza cart around the tailgating festivities outside the stadium this season, which means you have no excuse for eating a personal pan pie that's been sitting under a heat lamp.
