While last week was all about the Great American Beer Festival (and hangovers), this week is all about our local chefs, many of whom are taking part in Harvest Week, a six-day brunch and dinner salute to Colorado's backyard bounty. All of the multi-course pop-up jubilees will take place at the Growhaus, a rather marvelous non-profit urban indoor farm, market and educational center in the Elyria-Swansea neighborhood that, during Harvest Week, morphs into a communal gathering place for chefs and like-minded foodniks who all convene to share in the locally-sourced endowment of culinary riches.
The annual Colorado crop tribute, which also celebrates the state's inspiring beer and spirits scene, is the brainchild of EatDenver, a dedicated comaraderie of local, independent restaurants, and the festivities kick off on Sunday morning with a Praise the Lard Gospel Brunch followed by a series of themed dinners that extend through next Friday.
And we're giving away two seats to the Friday finale, dubbed Million Dollar Cowboy. That dinner, which features Wild West grub from Ghost Plate & Tap, Panzano, Elway's Cherry Creek, Avenue Grill and the Fort, starts at 6 p.m., and cowboy boots/hats are encouraged. And trotting along your own place setting (don't forget the wine glass!) is required, and if you put a creative stamp on it, you could win a prize.
But winning the two tickets to the dinner is a bit trickier, and you'll need to answer a question, which is a stumper but not impossible. Here's what we want to know:Name the five founding restaurants of EatDenver.
If no one comes up with all five, we'll give the seats to the first person to name four of the five, or, if that doesn't pan out, the first person to name three of the five. Leave your guesses in the comment section below, and be sure to include your name and a valid e-mail address, so we can contact you if you win.
We'll announce the winner Thursday by 5 p.m. In the meantime, you can still purchase seats to the Harvest Week dinners -- and we highly encourage you to do so -- by going to http://eatdenver.com/community/overview/harvest-week/.
