While the bakery, located at 19751 East Main Street in Parker, won't celebrate its grand opening until May 16, Nomelie will be very active until then. Davenport is participating in Cupcakes for the Cure from May 4 through May 10, donating proceeds from selected cupcakes during that time to the Susan G. Komen cancer foundation.
And while good causes are sweet, they get even sweeter when Davenport talks about her place. "Our concept is simple," she explains. "We offer gourmet cupcakes that both look and taste wonderful! We use the finest ingredients, including sweet cream butter, pure vanilla, French chocolates and fresh fruit. We bake everything from scratch fresh every morning and we never, ever use mixes!"
She'll be serving French-press NOVO coffees, and the first fifty customers who buy a cup at the grand opening will get a free cupcake.
"Our shop is an eclectic mix of furniture and seating that we hope people will find warm and inviting," says Davenport.
I get warm all over just hearing about the cupcakes she plans to offer. "I think the most popular flavors are the Red Velvet, Strawberry Dream and Lovely Lemon, but we have over eighteen flavors and they are all great!" she promises.
"My personal favorites are the Sweet and Salty [French chocolate cupcake with salted caramel frosting] and the Coconut Dream [coconut cupcake with white chocolate frosting dipped in coconut]."
I am holding my breath for her Cherry Chocolate and Cherry Vanilla cupcakes, for Davenport will be using the holiest of all cherries, the legendary Amarena cherry. "I use imported cherries from Italy that are divine," Davenport says. "And every Saturday there will be a surprise flavor, like Lavender and Honey, to tantalize everyone's tastebuds!"
