Don't let the fact that this is Friday the 13th get you down. Besides all the axe murders that are bound to occur, this weekend also promises more than a few entertainment options that will keep you from going broke before you're hacked to bits by a psycho-killer. While the biggest event is easily the showdown between His Holiness and Mr. Gieselle Bunchen, there are still plenty of other things to do around town. (For our full guide to what's going on in Denver, head over to the Westword calendar.) iWorld at The New Colorado Photographic Arts Center Gallery (Through February 11) A new exhibit featuring a vast selection of artists and images inspired by the direct-response visual world of today, iWorld takes a look at how cell-phone pictures and video have changed the art world for good. And the exhibit is free to the public, so broadening your cultural horizons won't cost you a penny. Susan Froyd has more information on the exhibit.

BMoCA Fall Exhibitions at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (Tuesday-Sunday until January 29) If that first exhibit gets your creative juices flowing, head to Boulder to check out the BMoCA's show featuring three young, regional artists whose work is beyond their years. "Originally, we were researching a larger group for a joint exhibition, but these three stood out on their own, and even though they are young and emerging, I think they are ready to be presented," says curator Petra Sertis. "For a museum, I suppose we're being a little bit daring by showing art that's not yet established." For just $4 you can decide for yourself. Susan Froyd has more details on the BMoCA Fall Exhibitions.

My Teenage Angst at The Bar (Friday) Sometimes you just need to let it out. Megan Nyce understands that, so she created "My Teenage Angst" to let people express their pent-up anger in a hilarious way. MTA gives people a chance to read from their high school diaries and relive old flames, lunchroom feuds and everything else that seemed so important back then. Audience participation is encouraged, so if you'd like to share from your old diary, show up at 7:30 p.m. to register. Even better, you can enjoy this walk down memory lane with Nyce for the low, low price of $0. Bree Davies has more details on My Teenage Angst.

Mansions on the Moon at Larimer Lounge (Friday) Touring in support of its latest EP, Lightyears, Mansions on the Moon is not to be missed. The show is $10.50, but we think the extra .50 is worth it to catch these guys on their only night in town. Tom Murphy has more details on Mansions on the Moon.

The Lafayette Quaker Oat Festival in Lafayette (Saturday) Now in its sixteenth year, the Lafayette Quaker Oat Festival is one of those things that's so odd, you just have to see it for yourself. The festival kicks off with a community breakfast at Pioneer Elementary for just $8 and continues with a health fair, the Quicker Quaker 5K run and an oatmeal-baking contest. Bree Davies has more information on the Lafayette Quaker Oat Festival. Melismatics at the hi-dive (Saturday) Minneapolis's own Melismatics have a way of taking you back to a time when it was about the music, the man. Featured on the soundtracks to MTV pseudo-reality series Laguna Beach and The Hills, Melismatics would have also fit right along with the channel's actual music video programming fifteen years ago. Just $8 will get you a ride in this musical time machine.

Times Are Hard for Dreamers at Super Ordinary Gallery (Opening Saturday) A rare solo show for tattoo artist and painter Sandi Calistro, TAHFD will showcase an array of her portraits and prints. Saturday's opening also includes a fashion show, spins provided by DJ Brian Castillo, and wine, beer and cupcakes for those sick of the usual art show hors d'oeuvres. Susan Froyd has more details on Times Are Hard for Dreamers.

Broncos vs. Patriots Viewing Party at Spill Lounge (Saturday) If none of the other events on this list have interested you, it's probably because you plan to spend your weekend worshiping the big 1-5. Spill Lounge is welcoming all of the faithful to come and worship together at its Broncos vs. Patriots viewing party this Saturday at 6 p.m.. As an added bonus, the party becomes a UFC 142 viewing party once the Broncos beat the Pats. There's no cover and Bud/Bud Lights are only $3.

Nurses at the hi-dive (Sunday) Portland band Nurses is back in Denver with its eccentric stage presence and sound, touring for its latest album Dracula. For just $10, this show is not to be missed. Tom Murphy has more details on Nurses at the hi-dive.

How to Watch a Film Series at Dairy Center For the Arts (Every Sunday through January 29) Ever watch a movie and just think, "Huh?" The good people at the Dairy Center for the Arts have encountered this problem a time or two and have come up with an educational series to help the film un-educated figure out those head-scratchers. Each Sunday the DCA screens a movie and then has a film historian deconstruct it; the evenings range from $7-$10. Susan Froyd has more details How to Watch a Film Series.
