It's almost time for that holiday you've been waiting for all year -- President's Day! Well, maybe not. But at least it might get you out of work for a day, which means you can go out every day this weekend and still have Monday to recover. We've got it all for less than $10, with everything from a Lincoln Log-building contest to a soul dance party, to a lecture that will ease your anxiety about the Armageddon. Yay, presidents! For a full calendar of events, visit westword.com/calendar.

Kelly ShortandQueer, Annah Anti-Palindrome, and On a Clear Day at the Denver Zine Library The Bay Area's Annah Anti-Palindrome gracefully walks the line between musician and performance artist, crafting deeply confessional songs using a loop pedal and often combining them with audience participation activities as well as engaging performance pieces. The fascinating, engaging artist will be joined by what the Zine Library is calling other "queerly antagonistic performances" by local zinester Kelly ShortandQueer and Seattle's On a Clear Day. It's sure to be a moving night you won't want to miss.

Mile High Soul Club at the Meadowlark (Friday, free) Every month, DJs Dogboy, Tyler Jacobson and Creeper Steve Cervantes offer up one of Denver's best dance parties, spinning only the best soul, Motown, and funk tunes. These DJs may have just opened at the Buell for Lenny Kravitz, but they're still keeping their party intimate and cover-free. Introduction to Vedic Astrology at Amala Yoga Community (Friday, free) Looking for something a little different? Amala Yoga Community, the yoga studio about City O' City, offers up free yoga every Friday. But this Friday, they're also adding a no cost class in Vedic Astrology that promises to teach you "how you are connected to the Universe and what is the true purpose of your life." You mean there's no charge for that? Sign us up. Feed Denver Poster Show at Hinterland (Friday, free) The folks at Feed Denver are united under one idea: that humans have a basic right to eat high quality, low waste food. They'll continue to try to make that right a reality for people in Denver tonight through this show, which will unite Denver artists in a poster show and auction whose proceeds will go to support the cause.

Huge Comedy Show at the Oriental Theater (Saturday, $10) Onus Spears' periodic comedy night is known for a diverse line-up and of course, lots of laughs. Tonight it will include Portland-based headliner Ron Funches as well as local favorites Adam Cayton-Holland, Chris Carpentier, and Michael Carter and music from Wheelchair Sports Camp.

Lincoln Log Throwdown at the Schlessman Family Branch Library (Saturday, free) Never quite know what to do to celebrate President's Day? Join the club. But now you do. Lincoln Logs may not have a ton to do with the president (other than that he was born in a log cabin), but they'll serve as the center of the Schlessman Family Branch Library's President's Day celebration this weekend. Come prove your prowess at building with the classic toy for a chance to win a cherry pie courtesy of The Shoppe.

Denver Area Science Fiction Association Panel at Broadway Book Mall (Saturday, free) Join authors Jesse Bullington, Jason Heller, and Stephen Graham Jones for a sci-fi talk entitled "Salty Language is In Effect: The Outre in Genre Fiction." We're not sure exactly what that will entail, but with a lineup of rad writers, it's sure to be and interesting evening to pick the brains of some of Denver's best sci-fi writers.

A Very CMKY Winter Zone Out Party at Cherryvale Studio (Saturday, $5-10) Communikey will present this mulitmedia night of electronic music, featuring ambient music and visual media from Offthesky, Radere, and C. Yantis. It promises to be an intriguing night that will push the boundaries of sonic art.

Maya Calendar 2012 Lecture at the Denver Art Museum (Sunday, $10) It's not the end of the world. At least, that's what Maya Exploration Center director Ed Barnhart will stress tonight at his DAM lecture about how all this talk about the Mayan calendar apocalypse on December 21 is not anything to worry about. Phew. Time to finally eat all those canned goods you've been storing since the world didn't end in the year 2000.

Neat Market at The Other Side Arts (Sunday, free) With local food vendors like Watercourse, Denver Seitan Company, and The Vegan Van populating the pop up shop, this market is the perfect place to go to escape animal products and support locally grown food. Whether you're totally vegan or just cutting down on consuming our furry friends, this will be an excellent place to find something tasty and guilt-free.
