Dawn of the Dead at Crash 45 (Tuesday, free) Warm weather doesn't have to be all about sunny feelings and flowers and rainbows. Get scared tonight at the Cruel Horror Summer Film Series, which will screen George A. Romero's 1978 zombie classic Dawn of the Dead. As always, there will be movie-themed souvenirs and the drink special is the Zombie, of course.

Signs of Life at the Denver Botanic Gardens (Wednesday, free) Robert Buelteman's photograms use neither a camera nor a lens to create stunning pictures of florals. Instead, every ray of light becomes a piece of the work. See the exhibit at tonight's opening at the York Street Gardens, which also includes a talk by Buelteman. The Back Side of History at the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History (Wednesday, free) When archaeologist Dr. Rebecca Schwendler excavated the outhouse outside her circa 1892 Lafayette home, she was surprised to find over 100 artifacts. Learn about her findings at this free lecture, which will tell the story of the people who used the privy and the evidence of illicit activities they left behind.
