The free, Outdoor Family Film Series at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will start off with a bang this summer, when David "The Bullet" Smith Jr. launches himself into the sky with his human cannon. The Alamo Drafthouse is an eat-and-drink movie theater that usually only allows patrons eighteen or older -- or children accompanied by adults -- to enter. But kids get to be front and center at the outdoor series, which starts tomorrow, June 11. In honor of the new Superman movie, Man of Steel, opening June 13, at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, the Human Cannonball will dress up in proper Superman attire, stuff himself inside his cannon in front of the Alamo Drafthouse, and then travel hundreds of feet through the air.
More fun for the kids tomorrow includes the Sventastic Sven Jorgensen performing a circus art extravaganza. He'll be juggling fire on a ball, walking on the world's thinnest tightrope and balancing on the Tower of Power. The night's free entertainment also includes face painting and a bouncing house. The main event, though, is a free screening of the animated hit Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, which will start at dusk.
Throughout the festivities, the Human Society will be accepting donations, and providing beer vouchers to those 21 and up who donate $4 or more.
The Film Series starts on June 11th and goes weekly every Tuesday until July 9th. Visit the Alamo Drafthouse website for more information.
