Though she's primarily known in the column realm for dispensing direction on sex and relationships, the book shifts her focus to common decency: In I See Rude People: One Woman's Battle to Beat Some Manners into an Impolite Society, she makes the case that folks need to get their goddamn heads on right and have a little consideration for once in their fucking lives. And while the advice and book domains don't necessarily share the same subject material, they do share a common source: Namely, Alkon's interest in anthropology and evolutionary psychology, with which she calls for a return to the polite normative behavior of yore with the help of some choice, hilarious anecdotes of infuriating situations.
She'll bring all that (and hopefully a few observations on Focus-town itself) to Colorado Springs this evening at 7 p.m. at Stargazers Theatre and Event Center. Tickets are a mere $10. Just prepare to get told.
