While the majority of programs at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science are family-friendly, The Science Lounge is strictly 21-plus only -- meaning you get to drink beer while looking at old, dead stuff. But the monthly program aimed a mature audience is more than just an after-hours wander through some of the museum's cavernous halls; It is also a chance for open discussion on a rotating exhibit-related topic.

Tomorrow night, starting around 6:30 p.m., two scientists who led the recent mammoth and mastadon excavation at Snowmass Village will be on hand to discuss their findings over cocktails, served up by a cash bar. Local gypsy folk band Taarka will also be setting the tone as guests get a taste of museum in a more relaxed, adult-like setting. Going down the third Thursday of each month, future Science Lounge events will include astronaut training (with Tang cocktails, of course) in February, and a St. Patrick's day celebration in March with a deeper look at the museum's gems and minerals collection (serving, you guessed it, green beer.)

The event is 21 and up, and tickets are $8 for members, $10 for non-members. Do it for science.
