Linda Przybyszewski at Tattered Cover Colfax (Tuesday, free) Home economics used to be a serious class taught in schools, and even a branch of government. After finding a pamphlet called "How to buy shoes" issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in the 1950s, author and historian Linda Przybyszewski decided to take a closer look into how women's fashion evolved over the last century. Her new book, The Lost Art of Dress: The Women Who Once Made America Stylish, takes a look at the simplicity, art and thriftiness of women's fashion through American history. Przybyszewski will be reading excerpts from the book and signing copies of her newest work tonight at the Tattered Cover Colfax. Dancing About Architecture at Carmen Weidenhoeft Gallery (Tuesday,free) Architecture for Humanity is an organization of engineers, architects and urban planners who donate their time and knowledge to helping under-served communities around the world. Tonight the Denver chapter will be hosting a free happy hour and discussion with Ben Griswold, designer of museum spaces along with conceptual artist and social entrepreneur Adam Gordon. As Frank Zappa said, "Writing about music is like dancing about architecture," so this could be a heady conversation. Adam Bateman at Gildar Gallery (Thursday, free) Fields is the newest exhibition from Adam Bateman. A Utah native who does environmental abstracts in many mediums, he's been shown and Los Angeles and New York; Gildar Gallery is hosting the artist for the first tme in Denver. The free opening reception is tonight.
