Artist Lauri Lynnxe Murphy, a mover and shaker in every sense of the term and a veritable legend in this town, is leaving Denver in early September, and the opportunities to schmooze with Lauri while enjoying another aspect of her many talents are growing thin. But here's one of them: a trunk show featuring Murphy's resin jewelry and lockets, slide bags and cards by Red Camper and wine and snacks, tonight from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at Mona Lucero Design Boutique, 2544 15th Street.

"It's an aspect of Lauri's that I don't think people are aware of so much," Lucero says, and that's so true: Until I heard about tonight's event, I had no idea that Lauri, on top of creating everything from comics to stuffed-animal coats, also made jewelry. Ya learn something new everyday. And I also think it's worth going tonight just to see Murphy's interpretation of personal adornment.

You'll also have chance to check out Lucero's sexy and fast-disappearing gussied up camisoles, new restructured clothing from Pearl and, in an act of tribute, Red Camper's Maura Gramzinski will be showing handbags made from discarded slides of Murphy's artwork as part of her portion of the show. All Lauri, all of the time. But only for a few more weeks...
