Denver is host to a cornucopia of interesting people. In an effort to showcase the broad character of the populace, Westword's own Ben Dayton is doing random interviews with Denver residents about random topics, randomly.

Today, he interrupted Doug Spencer, guitarist of Snake Rattle Rattle Snake and, perhaps more importantly, a barista, from his duties at Metropolis Coffee to talk about the important issues of the day. What follows is their conversation concerning such pressing topics as Snooki and polar bears' love of humans.

WW: Why do polar bears love you? DS: Well, polar bears are hunters by nature, and I believe humans have sweet meat.

WW: What do you love about Denver? DS: I love the people. I really like the city. It's supportive.

WW: Are you a creative person? Do you make art? DS: Yeah. I like to make art and make music. You know, just anything. People here seem to appreciate it.

WW: What kind of music do you make? DS: Oh, I don't know, all kinds of stuff. I play guitar.

WW: What is your favorite drink? DS: I'd have to say a cortado.

WW: What's that? DS: It's equal parts espresso and steamed milk. WW: What do you hate? DS: Let me think about that. [Thinks]. I don't like the people who go around and tag tires for parking meters. They're like the vultures of society. You pray on, well, me. They prey on me.

WW: Me too. I've paid some serious fees in my day. What is your favorite activity? DS: One of my favorite activities is to shut the curtains in the house, put on some jams, and get out my foam nunchucks.

WW: What do you think of Snooki? DS: Oh, I was just talking about her with my wife. She's the girl from Jersey Shore?

WW: Yeah. DS: I don't really know anything about her.

WW: What does filibuster mean? DS: What is a filibuster?

WW: Why did the squirrel cross the road? DS: I don't know.

WW: What color is the feeling you get when you chug a beer? DS: Glitter... It's like glittery.

WW: How's business? DS: Business is pretty good. It's a good day for coffee.
