You could pretty much hear the yelps of joy all the way out here when The Book of Mormon opened in New York last year. The New York Times declared this musical -- by our very own South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, along with Robert Lopez of Avenue Q -- the best musical of this century, and the show went on to win a slew of awards, including nine Tonys.

And now it's coming to Denver.

We hear Book of Mormon is so bright, clever and uproariously funny that it has single-handedly brought the American musical back to life. Since Parker and Stone are home-town boys, Denver will be the first stop for the touring production.

Even better -- it'll be at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, with its comfortable auditorium and clean, bright sound.

But its run is only for three weeks, from August 14 to September 2, so if you don't get your tickets the minute they became available -- which is at 10 a.m. this Sunday -- you could be out of luck.

Prices start at $35.

Order from denvercenter.org, by phone (303-893-4100) or in-person at the Denver Center Ticket Office -- and be prepared to do some joyful yelping of your own.
