Spring is finally melding into summer here in Denver, and with that change in season our closets need a transformation, too. What better way to celebrate the sun than by wearing summer styles by local designers?

This was the thought that prompted Denver fashion veterans Lourdes Rios and Kandyce Hudson to host a trunk show at Tamarac Square Mall on Saturday. The venue has been very supportive of local talent and hosts many fashion events, including last spring’s Project Runway -inspired Tamarac Square Fashion Project.

“We wanted to get our names out there and at the same time help bring business to Tamarac,” said Rios.

The clothes ranged from loose, flowing tops perfect for high temperatures to sailor pants that hold true to the nautical styles we love here in land-locked Denver. There were fun and flirty dresses and a nod to menswear by pairing ties with skirts. The mood of the clothes reflected the energy in the crowd, and showed that great things can happen with some local support.
