Yesterday, we let you know that Vicente Solorzano, a suspect in an Aurora double shooting, had previously been swept up in an Immigration and Customs Enforcement raid targeting "transnational gangs with ties to drug-trafficking organizations." Suspect in Double Shooting Turns Himself in to Police

Aurora, Colo. -- Last night, shortly before 11 p.m., Vicente Solorzano was taken into custody by Aurora Police.

Solorzano became aware of the efforts that were underway by law enforcement to find him after seeing his arrest photo on TV in connection with a local news story about the shooting. After the story aired, Solorzano called an officer at the police department and made arrangements to turn himself in at the intersection of Potomac Street and Alameda Avenue. He was subsequently taken in to custody at this location without incident.

Solorzano is being held without bond for investigation of two counts of Criminal Attempt 1st Degree Murder. An "ICE Hold" has also been placed on him. He has been transported to the Adams County Jail. An updated arrest photo has been sent along with this news release.

Aurora Police are requesting the public's help in locating 20-year-old Vicente Solorzano who is wanted in connection with a non-fatal shooting that occurred late Monday night.

On July 19, 2010, shortly before 10:30 p.m., officers responded to the area of 22nd Avenue and Oswego Street after receiving several reports of shots fired. Responding officers located two adult male victims in the area who had been injured in the shooting that occurred moments before the officers arrived. Officers also located shell casings in the area. Officers provided assistance to the injured victims, secured the crime scene, interviewed witnesses, and contacted detectives.

During the course of ensuing investigation, investigators determined that several dozen people had gathered in the area of 22nd Avenue and Oswego Street. At some point, individuals within this group became involved in an argument which led to a physical fight and the shooting. Investigators believe that Solorzano fired a handgun several times, striking two individuals in the area of the fight. This shooting is considered by Police to be a gang motivated incident.

Solorzano is a resident of Aurora and described as a 20-year-old Hispanic male, approximately height -- 5'6," approximately 180 lbs, eyes -- brown, hair -- black. He is considered armed and dangerous.
