Revis's actions after being mistaken for Anthony West, who's suspected in a domestic violence incident, have landed him in jail. Meanwhile, West remains at large as of this writing. Details below.
At around 1 a.m. on May 20, according to the Aurora Police Department, officers were sent to a disturbance at 1921 Clinton Street.Upon their arrival at apartment 101, they encountered a woman who said she'd been assaulted by her boyfriend, West.
By then, West was nowhere to be seen, and after cops took the woman's report, they split. But around 1:30 a.m., another call came into dispatch from the same location.
West had reportedly returned and made threats to the occupants of the apartment while brandishing a handgun. But as before, he made himself scarce before they showed up.
Under the theory West might still be nearby, officers canvassed the immediate area and soon came across what the APD describes as "a male subject matching the description of the suspect" in an apartment building hallway.As you've guessed by now, this was Revis, not West.
But rather than explaining this as police moved toward him, Revis allegedly fled, winding up inside apartment 204 in the same complex.
The cops tried to push their way into the unit, but the APD says he slammed the door in their faces and blocked the entry with some kind of object.
He wasn't alone. Police subsequently learned that the pad was occupied by a woman and her four children.

At that point, the standoff began in earnest.Cops evacuated the apartment building while commanding Revis via bullhorn to leave the apartment. But he wasn't in the mood, and he allegedly prevented the woman and her kids from splitting, even though they would have eagerly done so given the chance.
Before long, a fully equipped SWAT team was on the scene, accompanied by hostage negotiators.
Finally, around 9 a.m., Revis emerged, along with the other five occupants, none of whom was physically harmed during the ordeal.
Why had Revis been so reluctant to talk to the cops? One of the charges against him -- possession of a weapon by a previous offender -- provides a pretty good clue.He also faces misdemeanor counts of false imprisonment and failure to leave a premises.
As for West, investigators found his gun but not him. We've reached out to the Aurora Police Department for an update on the search for him and will update this post if there's anything new to report.
In the meantime, anyone with information about his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the APD or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867). A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information leading to his arrest and conviction.
The cops describe West as a 37-year-old African-American male standing five-eight and weighing 186 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
Update, 2:40 p.m.: Sergeant Christopher Amsler, spokesman for the Aurora Police Department, confirms that Anthony West remains at large as of this writing. In the hopes of capturing him, the APD has now released a previous booking photo. Here it is:
