In that first blog, we made the bold assumption that Ferris is cute -- and as the photo above proves, we were right! If you'd like to make him part of your family, he's available for adoption beginning at 11 a.m. this morning. Surf over to the Humane Society's website for details. Attaboy, Ferris.
Stolen puppy is returned to humane societyFerris, a two-month-old standard Dachshund puppy that was stolen from the Humane Society of Boulder Valley on Aug. 12, was returned at about 12:30 p.m. today, Aug. 27, by a woman who saw media reports about the case. The puppy has been evaluated by humane society staff and is in good health.
Police are continuing to investigate the theft. The woman who returned Ferris is not suspected of the crime. The woman has been caring for the puppy since Monday, when a friend who was not allowed to have pets in her residence asked her if she wanted a dog.
"We are grateful for the puppy's safe return and the support from the community," said Connie Howard, vice president of operations for the humane society.
Ferris will be put up for adoption tomorrow, Aug. 28, at 11 a.m. when the shelter opens. For more information on the adoption process, members of the public can call 303-442-4030 or go to www.boulderhumane.org.
